OSRS Raids 4, The Fractured Archive, is Old School RuneScape's fourth raid and releases on Tuesday 20 October 2026. You need While Guthix Sleeps to enter, teams run from 2 to 8 players, and each run takes you through 5 of the raid's 8 bosses. Below is everything Jagex has confirmed so far, and what is still unknown.

When does the Fractured Archive release?

Jagex has scheduled the Fractured Archive for Tuesday 20 October 2026. The date was revealed at RuneFest 2026 and repeated in the official launch blog on 6 October. Jagex hasn't published an exact launch time on its official pages yet, so we'll add it here as soon as the raid is live.

If you can't raid on day one, Jagex is hosting a release-day watch party on its Twitch channel with Mod Ayiza and Mod Kieren.

What is the Fractured Archive?

It is the fourth OSRS raid, after the Chambers of Xeric, the Theatre of Blood and the Tombs of Amascut. The story follows on from While Guthix Sleeps: Lucien's meddling with the Stone of Jas opened a way into a vault where Guthix's followers stored his most valued artefacts, and agents of other gods have already gone in after them.

Jagex designed it as a combat-focused raid with very little skilling or puzzle content, closer to Theatre of Blood than to Chambers of Xeric, and it calls it the toughest raid yet.

How do you get into the Fractured Archive?

You must have completed While Guthix Sleeps. After that, a messenger meets you when you log in and hands you a note pointing to the entrance: a cliff face near the Ancient Guthixian Temple, at the bottom of the Chasm of Tears. Until you get the Archivist's Folio from the raid, Guthixian temple teleport scrolls are the quickest way there.

Team size and scaling

The raid scales from 2 to 8 players, and Jagex recommends 3 to 5. Duo clears are hard but manageable once a pair knows the fights. Solo is possible but uses 2-player scaling, so Jagex expects it to be a long-term challenge rather than the normal way to play.

How the raid is laid out

Every run starts with the Archive Guardian and ends with the final boss. Between them, your team picks the left or right door three times:

  1. The Archive Guardian
  2. Bork and the Smorks, or Ezekiel, a justiciar of Saradomin
  3. Dreadnoth the Jellied, or a necromancer
  4. Xarth, a Tormented Demon, or the Dagon'hai Trio
  5. The final boss, a hooded figure Jagex hasn't named yet

The choices are fixed, not random, and each pair gives the same raid points. Your route changes how fast you clear, not your chance at a unique.

The Fractured Archive opens 20 October

Orders placed now join the queue and start as soon as the raid opens.

Wipes, deaths and Practice Mode

  • Team wipes: if the whole team dies, everyone is sent back to the lobby and a normal gravestone appears nearby. This works like Theatre of Blood.
  • Spectating: when you die, you can switch to a teammate's view through the party orbs, see their inventory and ping slots for them. Party leaders can also let other players spectate.
  • Supplies: there is no Overload and no banking inside the raid. A points-based resupply partway through depends on how your team has done so far.
  • Practice Mode: not available at release. When it arrives, you can practise any boss or phase you have already reached in a real run, with supplies refunded and friends allowed.

The lobby

The area in front of the entrance has a bank chest, a grouping board for making parties, a record keeper, and a strategy board run by General Montoya where you can find and spectate other parties. Ascension rocks in the south-west corner let you mine Ascension shards slowly between runs.

Fractured Archive rewards

  • The Obligator, the crush megarare
  • Zeal, an upgrade to Piety
  • Rondache, a shield that stores the damage it blocks
  • Zorya's Tome, a two-handed magic weapon
  • Ascension crossbows, dual-wield crossbows
  • Elemental fragments and the Archivist's Folio (both untradeable)
  • Ascension shards

Jagex hasn't published drop rates; they are expected in the raid's second week. It aims to keep regular loot a little below Theatre of Blood. Read what every reward does.

Restricted accounts

Jagex had planned changes so restricted builds could reach the raid, but they won't be ready for launch. Accounts that can't complete the While Guthix Sleeps unlock path won't be able to enter on 20 October, and Jagex hasn't given a date for a fix. Ironmen that complete While Guthix Sleeps can enter as normal.

What we don't know yet

  • The exact launch time
  • Drop rates and pet details
  • Boss mechanics (Jagex kept them back for release day)
  • Who the final boss is
  • When Practice Mode goes live
  • When Combat Achievements for the raid arrive
